Ayurveda 101 Workshops: Listen to Audio Lessons from Online Classes with Bree

Late last year, I decided to become more balanced. I know, total yoga buzz word. But, I inquired into my lifestyle, all areas.

What I have come to realize is that we, humans, typically operate under two conditions, proactive and reactive. Although, most of us prefer to plan our lives in detail, those reactive events are change provoking and sometimes instantaneously. Both have their place in our lives, rather we like it or not.

Well, in my case, it was an experience with my health that forced me to react, that finally sealed the deal for me to really practice what I teach. Ayurvedic Wellness.

I began my study of Ayurveda many moons ago, so long ago that it is embarrassing to my logical side of self to admit it to my impulsive side. But, I am a believer that when the student is ready the master will appear.

So...I jumped head first back into my studies and refreshed my mindset on Ayurvedic living. See, where I reside, there is the world-renowned Ayurvedic Institute, founded by Dr. Vasant Lad, Ayurvedic Physician. Students travel from all-around the globe to study there. Some investing thousands of dollars to train under Dr. Lad.

I am one of those students.

So, why haven't I been practicing what I teach? This is a tricky question, because my heart and parts of my brain actually believe I have been. But under further examination, the truth is clear, I have been mostly ignoring the practice on myself. This is very common in any profession. I mean, haven't you heard of the saying "those who cannot do, teach?" Not that this should apply to the healing arts and sciences. Just sayin'.

This is where my journey begins, or maybe begins again. And that is okay, this is a lifelong practice. This 5000 year old medicinal practice is not foreign to our ancestors. They didn't need to name it or call it by name, I should say. It was a lifestyle. Fresh food, whole-foods, sleeping with the moon, waking at the glimpse of light in the morning sky. Leading with love. Now, I don't want to romanticize the past. There was war and famine. And plenty of stress.

Modern technology has mitigated many potential losses of life and extended the lives of generations.

So, can you imagine if you were able to live in the best of both worlds?! Sound like a fairytale?

Lucky you! It can be a reality. Through Ayurvedic practices, we learn how to be proactive with our health and wellness. Not in a gimmicky, kind of way, where science doesn't support the claims being made. But in a tried and true system of holistic support to your mind and your body. Key word is "your".

And...no, you do not need to purchase anything. You just need to learn how to apply it to your life.

I am happy to help!

I recently hosted a four-part workshop series online and shared it with my Yoga Podcast listeners. Introducing some of the most fundamental teachings of Ayurveda and how to understand your needs through this practice.
